Hey, someone's gotta play Data, and this dude got the job!:)
No rhyme, no reason, just a little result of me having some time on my hands.
This little area of the net is devoted to one of my favourite non-cartoon characters of all      time......Data.
*insert polite applause here*

For the very few who don't know, Data's the cybernetic charmer on Star Trek: The Next Generation.  In my opinion, I think he stole the show!:)

Okay, so why devote a page to the spunky android?  Easy.  I like him!:)
Data means a lot to me. He helped me get through a very rough time in my life.. In addition, I don't think I've ever seen a non-cartoon character that was so much like me before! When I first saw him in Generations, it felt like someone had documented everything about me and then conjured a Star Trek character out of it all.
I mean he's different from anyone else he knows yet at the same time is a "freak among freaks" as all his friends are misfits as well, in their own way.  I can relate to that one. *grins*  And half the time I feel like I'm smarter than everyone else.  Folks say I have my head on straighter than most folks they know.  I guess that works.  I have yet to leave it buried in San Francisco though! :P
We've both had some really rough stuff happen to us in our lives, and each time we've gotten up, dusted ourselves off, acknowledged the situation,. learned from it, and moved on.  And when he's got his emotion chip going, he's about as hyper and off the wall as I am after I get a few pixistix in me!!:)
It's pretty freaky in one respect, but at the same time, it's comforting to see a character like that out there because it means I'm not alone and that someone shares my quirks.
